While on a Costa Rica trip, I was rather pleased to see some surf camps catering to female clientele. One of the surf adventure camps features a young woman with a teaching degree who also has a massage license. She has found a way, apparently to meld her interests and talents in a job that suits her and the customers and live in the paradise that is Costa Rica. Another on the staff is a young woman who also can boast a teaching degree and a massage therapist license. Yet another lady on staff has training in Ashtanga yoga and practices Bikram yoga as well.
All in all, these particular Costa Rica surf camps are all-inclusive with airport pick-up, daily surf lessons, equipment (no worry getting your board on a flight without damage, etc.), yoga lessons, area tours and excursions (the type of trips depend upon location of surf camp), nice accommodations, vegetarian meals, and more. That being said, if you are looking into taking a costa rica surf vacation or tour then I do suggest CR adventures as they are quite a vacation package and surf school. They also have a yoga retreat which is very cool in my opinion.
Generally speaking, most of these said packages require some sort of deposit. Reservations can usually be made online. Of course various activities are subject to the whims of nature. Check out weather patterns for the time of year for the location you consider for your specific surf vacation in Costa Rica.
Jose Figueres Ferrer, who is also known as “Don Pepe,”is the father of modern Costa Rica. As an obscure property owner in 1942, he challenged then President Rafael Calderon when Calderon declared was on Japan, Italy, and Germany. Don Pepe paid for time on the radio and attacked Calderon with starting a war in which he could not defend the country against. Calling for Calderon’s resignation, Don Pepe was then forced to live in exile. Don Pepe led the National Liberation Army against him when Calderon would not step down when Otilio Ulate was elected as president to replace him.
Calderon had instigated reforms that Don Pepe believed in and during three different and non-consecutive presidential terms, he built on those reforms and also gave women the vote, abolished the army (wow!) and set term limits for presidents. He gave citizenship to the blacks, and nationalized insurance companies and banks. Since that time, Costa Rica has really become known in the western world is a great yoga and surf vacation destination, among the best in the world, in fact. If you wish to take a costa rica surf vacation or surf tour or trip, there are a number to choose from. And as mentioned before, it is also a fine place if you desire a yoga retreat as well.
In his wisdom, Don Pepe built on the progressive reforms that came before him, and introduced his own enlightened and modern reforms. He set the stage for today’s Costa Rica, with its reputation as the most peaceful of Central American nations, a haven of stability—and it is now become a popular haven for expats searching for retirement paradise. There is very good surf in costa rica, and a number of tour and surf camps have sprung up there, along with yoga and wildlife trip as well.
In news out of Kitsap County which was initially published by the respected
‘Kitsap Sun’ online newspaper, it was reported that a thirteen year old boy, mad that his dad
refused to allow him his iPod, bit the poor man and kicked him in the groin prior to being
joined by his mom in the attack.
Authorities were notified following the attack, according to the report.
Apparently the son had become impatient since he had wanted to use the family’s computer to download music
to his iPod, yet the father was occupying the PC.
During the altercation, the boy bit his dad in an attempt to get him to let go of the iPod, causing an injury.
Then the son kicked his father between the legs. As they struggled, the 44-year-old wife and mother appeared and tried to determine what was happening.
She ended up punching her spouse a few times for some reason, and she was eventually arrested for fourth-degree assault. A report of the son’s
involvement in the altercation was forwarded to the juvenile authorities for further review. Has anything like this ever happened in Vermont? Post a comment if you know of a similiar story like this.
According to a staff report in the superb ‘Rutland Herald’ print and online newspaper,
Federal authorities have blocked some seventeen different states, which are led by Vermont and California - from establishing their own seperate automobile emissions standards in order slow global warming
and improve breathing air for everybody.
States have been instructed to rely instead on a brand new national law, rather than implement their own standards, the EPA head Stephen Johnson said in a statement. In fact, they went as far as to deny a needed waiver which would have granted states their own authority
for establishing standards in regards to how much in the way of harmful emmisions that different kinds of automobiles can potentially produce.
Governor James Douglas however, whose has placed the tougher standards in place in Vermont and, with the help of Attorney General William Sorrell’s office, has defended them, stated that they would mull over their various legal options.
He said that “The EPA ruling is out of touch with the reality of climate change and the innovative state policies that are emerging to address it. It is very unfortunate that this agency, (which is) charged with protecting the environment, opted not to act with the environmental stewardship American’s expect of it,”.
The emissions standards have been a main flagship and primary pillar of the governors work to lower the stae of Vermonts’ contribution to the global warming and emissions problem which affects everyone throughout the nation and world as whole.
Despite these setbacks, there is some reason for environmental optimism, fortunately. For example,
many technology industries are pushing hard towards making a profit out of solving the whole global warming phenomenon.
Firms as varied and diverse as eSolar, Solel, Nanosolar, Honda, GE, Vestas, Aracruz, and numerous more are commiting a lot of time and capital into renewable energy, transportation, and various products which are aligned with intelligent and sustainable development.
As a matter of fact, each leading industry is making significant investments in the solutions that the planet so desperately needs.
The Microsoft Corporation has releases
it’s much anticipated Windows Server 2008 virtualization technology Hyper-V.
It has also released it ahead of schedule, a rarity for the Washington State based software giant.
Hyper-V, which is also sometimes referred to as simply “Viridian,” is currently ready for download from Microsoft’s corporate site and can now be used with the x64 beta version of Windows Server 2008. T
This particular technology, known as a a hypervisor, is essentially the underlying virtualization technology for the server release, which is a significant upgrade which, if all goes well, should be released on February 27 of next year.
Hyper-V makes the most of virtualization-enhanced microprocessors from the Intel Corporation and AMD and is supposed to help Microsoft compete with the virtualization leader of the field: VMware. In fact, they already has hypervisor technology available for sale.
Hypervisors permit cross-platform support so server computers may run a variety of versions of different OSes like Windows and Linux, for example, side by side on a single piece of hardware.
According to a recent research study reported on several online News networks,
a whole new generation of superfoods has been established for those tired of the usual fare.
Baylor University dietitian Stephanie Dean, R.D. beleives that the humble Kiwi fruit from
new Zealand is at the top of the list. This particular fruit is quite high in
antioxidants, vitamin E plus lutein and thus helps with vision effeciency, blood clots while
apparently helping to normalize cholesterol as well. The grain barley also ranks qvery high on her list.
The USDA found that barley specifically could lower your LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol by 17.4 percent.
Cranberries also rate extremely high on the list of superfoods. They are rich in
Flavonoids which are a type of antioxidant that helps to ward off many maladies from infections to strokes.
Speaking of berries, another major player is the Goji berry which comes from high up in the Himilayan mountain
region. The goji berry, also known as the wolf berry, is of course where goji juice is derived from.
Researcher Earl Mindell, R.Ph., Ph.D states that Goji juice is definately one of the world’s most powerful anti-aging food.
He says that the reason for this is that goji is the only plant which has the four unique polysaccharides—which are molecules very important to the immune system.
Drinking the juice is generally more practical than eating the berries because 1 liter of Goji Juice has the polysaccharides equivalent of more than two pounds of fresh goji berries. You can find out more at Goji Juice Planet
Another major superfood happens to be broccoli sprouts. Surprisingly, this item has twenty percent more anti-cancer agents than regular broccoli. They are
sold by the package and may be added liberally to salads or can be a superb addition to sandwiches. Another one is kefir, which
has just as much calcium as milk while also containing the beneficial bacteria that is found in yogurt.
According to a recent national news report from the AP,
it was reported that the internet giant Comcast Corporation apparently
interferes with attempts by some of their high-speed web users to share files over the internet.
This is significant because it contradicts the traditional netiquette of treating all kinds of web traffic
on an equal footing. This rather shocking news, which was verified by the AP after
coast to coast tests, is perhaps the most extreme example to date of data discrimination by a major American ISP.
It essentially involves the firm’s computers masquerading as those of its users. And the
bad news here is that if this behavior or policy were to ever be broadly applied by other such web providers,
it could indeed be a crippling blow to the BitTorrent,
eDonkey and Gnutella file-sharing networks. While they are primarily considered to be sources of copyright music, software & feature,
BitTorrent especially is rising as a legitimate tool for quickly disseminating legal content.
The concept of equal treatment of web traffic, which is sometimes referred to as netequette or “Net Neutrality”, is not really embedded in the law itself but instead backed by certain regulations.
The majority of the discussion
has focussed on tentative plans by the big web players to offer preferential treatment of traffic from some specific content providers for a fee.
It seems that Comcast’s interference is an unusually assertive and proactive tactic for managing and moderating it’s bandwidth consumption.
Whether or not this tactic is at all ethical is a different matter entirely. I am sure that they would like to keep that arguement as seperate as possible, in fact.
They would not address the practice, but their spokesperson stated that they apply various procedures to keep their web connections running at a smooth level.
According to the AP report, the spokesperson flat out refused to be specific regarding what the firm means exactly by “access”.
Evidently Only uploads of the complete files are interferred with by the firm in question. As it stands now,
every computer recieves a message (which is completely invisible to the user) which appears like it comes from the other computer,
telling it to cease communicating. But neither message originated from the other computer — it comes from the firm.
This would be somewhat similiar to the operator cutting into your telephone conversation and saying: “Sorry, I have to hang up. Good bye.”
Wow, ain’t technology grand, lol? As a matter of fact, their interference appears to intercept all kinds of content.
As an example, a feature film producer who desired to distribute his work using BitTorrent would find it very difficult or even completely impossible.
For quite some time, web access providers have hated the huge quantities of bandwidth consumed by a relatively diminutive number of users who participate in the various file-sharing programs.
According to an interesting article by esteemed journalist Donna Howell of the IBD news website,
reported that a mere 50% of individuals with chronic conditions go on the internet as compared
with about seventy percent of the overall U.S. population. These individuals
truly want to learn, research suggests, and are more eager than others to share their information so as to assist other
patients. All the while, many such sick individuals simply lack web access, sadly enouph.
This is truly an unfortunate situation since the need for reliable health information is more urgent than ever before.
The nation’s disease burden continues to weigh very heavily. Many such conditions such as cancers, heart disease, hypertension and stroke, for example,
may cost us all as much as Four trillion plus dollars each year by the year 2023 or even sooner. Currently that figure
is only about a third of that, according to some data sources. The amount is due mainly because lost productivity issues instead of actual treatment costs.
Preventing these conditions early on before they have a chance to grow into full blown disease might save as much as $1.1 trillion by that year,
according to the director of the Milken Institute Center For Health Economics. When these individuals
go on the world wide web, they trade information about treatment with other individuals in the same situation as themselves.
In this regard then, they essentially are data watchdogs for other like individuals, to help direct them on to more reliable resources.
Apparently, these individuals get very frustrated trying to find data related their specific condition.
As a general rule, Senior citizens often to use the information superhighway differently from others, according to Tobey Dichter of
generationsonline.org. This particular nonprofit organization helps to furnish software to retirement homes and similiar places.
The senior citizens that he works with are task oriented, generally speaking, so an issue often leads them to start using the computer.
