Hawaii Voted Number One Travel Destination

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 9:19 pm

In travel related news, Hawaii 24/7 reported in a story this week February 6, 2010, that Travel Weekly has named Hawaii best state destination for tourism. The Big Island is particularly popular because of the volcano. That is some prime real estate over there.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), the state agency for tourism, released an announcement that Hawaii has been selected by Travel Weekly as the winner in the Best U.S. State Destination category for its seventh annual Readers Choice Awards. The island of Maui was recognized under the Hawaii category as Best Destination. If you happen to be looking for anice piece of land while visiting the big island or one of the other beatiful islands in the chain, might I recommend big island real estate as they are run by Sotheby’s and are among the best such real estate firms in all of the big island. Now back to the main article:
Mike McCartney is HTA’s president and chief executive officer. He was quoted in the article as saying, “We are truly honored that Hawaii has been chosen for such a prestigious award. A big mahalo to the Hawaii Visitors and Conventions Bureau (HVCB), its island chapters and Hawaii’s visitor industry employees for their outstanding efforts, support and hard work throughout the year.”
Hawaii 24/7 writes that Travel Weekly is the country’s foremost provider of information supplied to the travel industry. The information they provide reaches 180,000 plus readers a week. Its awards are well-regarded and are given once a year for achievements in the travel industry.

In Denver Criminal News: 6 charged in Montrose Incident

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 9:00 pm

I just returned from Los Angeles after seeing a probate attorney there. Several news outlets reported on December 1, 2009, that three people were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., after taking a fall at an abandoned electrical power plant. The Montrose police report that the three injured, aged 19 to 26, trespassed onto private property.
The three people climbed a catwalk and fell. Two fell several stories onto pavement. The third was caught in mid-air, dangling by a strap on his backpack. Joshua Drown of Delta, Colorado, age 21, came loose and fell further before authorities could assist him.
The three face charges including unlawful consumption of alcohol and unlawful entry. Stephanie Pickett, 19 years old, was airlifted to a Denver hospital. She sustained multiple fractures. Obviously, some young folks will need a good Los Angeles probate attorney or perhaps lawyer for their defense. I suppose that they are lucky in the sense that they will not be facing drunk driving or dui related criminal charges as well. She will be charged with underage possession of alcohol and unlawful entry.
23-year-old Rebecca Miller of Montrose is also expected to face criminal charges. She sustained head and facial injuries.
It has been reported by authorities that the group crawled beneath a fence at the plant. Some of them climbed up to a catwalk. Apparently they were so impaired by alcohol that they didn’t see that a floor panel was missing. There is not much defense for these acts.

Checking out Sacramento

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 9:44 pm

Sacramento is best known as the capital of the golden state as well as the home of the “Govonator” or A-List Movie star (or compulsive stripper gropper, allegedly) Arnold Schwarzenegger ( how do you spell that again, ha ha). Yet if you speak to MMA fans nowadays, they are not speaking about the man who is know for saying “I’ll be back”. In that particular regard they may be speaking about the ma who says, “I want my belt back”. A real life fighter who goes by the title Urijah Faber. All in all, he was born and raised in Sacramento. Generally speaking, he made a name for him self by scrapping his way to the top. As it were, he is basically all smiles and out of the ring and is a real cool cat who has not yet let his ego get to big. But the city’s real life house town hero held his belt as the featherweight champion of the globe with the WEC. A not so popular guy by the name of Mike Brown from Florida walked into the octagon in November of 2008 and knocked Faber out in the first round of the fight. Fans and the media alike state that it was the punch heard around the globe and it means that Faber had to give up his belt for now. He recovered from the knockout blow Brown gave him relatively quickly and already had his mind set on getting his belt back and taking the championship back as well and for his loyal fans around the globe. You may wish to visit Sacramento Strippers for a great DJ or bachelors party entertainment.
On June 7th, 2009 Mike Brown will go into Urijah Faber’s back yard and defend his title for the featherweight championship fight of the world. 14,000 people will pack into the Arco Stadium in Sacramento, not to mention the millions watching the fight live on the VS channel to see if Mike Brown will continue to carry the title of CHAMP or if Faber will get his belt back. He probably has more than one Sacramento Stripper on his speed dial, I would think. Nobody can really say what is to happen on the night of June 7th, we’ll all have to just wait and see one of the most exciting sports in the world today.

Rihanna attempts to recover her jewelry

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 10:20 pm

Noted R & B performer Rihanna is trying her best to get back jewelry which was lost on the night she was supposedly beaten up and biten by Hip Hop performer Chris Brown.
She apparently filed a motion last week requesting that the LAPD give back the hip hop jewelry which they took as evidence. The earrings and three rings are valued at $1.4 million.
She also accused the LAPD of trying to hold onto and then pawn off her jewelry to turn a fast profit. Actually I am just joking about that last part.
All in all, she wore the jewelry to Sony Music boss Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party on February 7, just prior to the supposed beating and biting attack.
Now she is even closer to Chris Brown and is considering marriage, so it must have really been a case of love at first bite. That sounds like the name of a good movie I saw a while back. According to the papers filed in this particular sordid case, the jewelry pieces were loaned to her by 4 firms which have since asked for the jewelry back, says the respected AP online news network. They probably just assumed she was partaking in a five finger discount, lol.
As was previosly reported by the AP and other news mainstream sources, As previously reported, the defendent in this affair (Brown) was arrested on February 8 in the city of angels while the Grammys were going on
and then eventually charged with felony assault as  well as making criminal threats. Touph night: you either walk away with a grammy award or a pinstripe prison jersey.
Among the jewelry items she is trying to get back include a hip hop techno master watch, aqua master watch, snake chain and a diamond dog tag. No I am just kidding about that last part.

There was also a loaded 9mm magazine found in the house and the search included the garage attic and the closet in the garage where much of this was located. According to officials the resident of the home was arrested on alleged possession of marijuana with the intent to sell. 1 Arrested, 2 Sought By the authorities following Festival Theft

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 4:05 am

Here is yet another bizarre crime article: The Fire Arts Festival that was held in the 1200 block of Seventh Street is where two women were leaving and returning to their vehicle when they were accosted and robbed. In connection with this robbery and assault one man has been arrested and police are seeking two other people that were involved in the incident. All in all, it seems to me that this story that could easily find itself mentioned on Jay Leno’s stupid criminal segment:

According to reports statements from Police Officer Jason Andersen the women were leaving the Fire Arts Festival at approximately 12:15 a.m. when they were approached and threatened by what has been found to be a toy gun. The women whose identities have not been released other than their ages of 56 and 65. The women were in the 700 block of Union Street when three men that are known of approached them, one man told the 56 year old woman he wanted her backpack while holding a gun. The woman refused, the man grabbed the backpack and the woman was thrown to the ground. As the man reached for the backpack the gun fell, the woman grabbed the gun and at this time realized it was a toy plastic gun. The man commanded that she return the gun, which she did, during the time that this took place another man grabbed the 65 year old woman’s purse and threw her to the ground.

Incidentially should you require a superlative Hawaii medical malpractice lawyer then you may want to check out the Law offices of Jeff Crabtree. He is

Or, if you happen to have been involved in an injury situation then I would strongly advise you to take a look at the Injury Law Group of Daniel T. Pagliarini. He is simple one of the best Hawaii Personal Injury Lawyer out there at this time in the state.

During these events the women were screaming for help and when the robbers left on foot. Two police officers that were in the vicinity of Union Street and 8th Street heard the calls for help. Upon hearing the incident perused the men they had seen walking away from the scene, the two officers have been identified as Officer Michael Mack and Officer David Chapman.

Along with other officers one of the suspects were found in a yard and the backpack was found near by, this man has been identified as Derrick Turner age 39 and he was identified by the victims. Turner was arrested for an alleged two counts of armed robbery.

Suspect Found in 1983 Triple Murder

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 3:11 am

Looks like someone is going to need an attorney. In 1983 there were 3 killings which all ended with 1 suspect who was involved in the witness protection program since 1981. This individuals who has been suspected in these 3 killings has been identified as Anthony Landis who gained admission inside the witness protection program in when he testified against prison gang members who were planning to murder a prison official. The testimony moved Landis from a Virginia prison to Colorado where he changed his name to Anthony Landis. Then he became a suspect in the grizly killings of Michael Loughrey, Randy Arlin Russom and Michael D. Ray age after Loughrey filed a police report that rifles were stolen from his house and stated to them that he suspected Landis.
After this report Loughrey disappeared and his body was found some 7 months later with personal injury from multiple gunshot wounds.
The other 2 men worked as valets at the restaurant by the name of Bobby Magee’s. In addition, investigators believe that same evening Landis met Michael Ray. The evening both men were killed, Michael Ray was found shot to death at 10150 E. Harvard Avenue in an apartment building parking lot, which was the former residence of Randy Russom. Randy Russom suffered a similar fate about twenty minutes or so afterword when he was shot several times while he was in an automobile. Even though he attempted to get away to safety he was followed and shot another six times at 7395 E. Eastman Avenue at Shadow Woods Condominium Park. Randy Russom was also known to have been carrying $2,300. from a construction job paycheck at the time of his murder.
Investigators found that Landis had connections with meeting all 3 of the men that had been shot and all of the bullets recovered from the men had come from the same weapon in question. Russoms car was found within only 2 blocks of the YMCA where Landis was known to have stayed that night instead of going home to his wife. Crimes like these require the person charged to have a criminal as opposed to a San Francisco Personal Injury Attorney not only for their trial but also for appeals and to assist in parole hearings. It is ideal if you live in San Francisco to have San Francisco Personal Injury Attorney.
Detectives found a box of bullets in Landis home that were the same caliber used in the murders. The gun involved in the crime was found years later in the possession of a prostitute; therefore while it can be tied to the murders it cannot be tied to Landis.
Landis was arrested for the sale of the stereo and charged with habitual criminal charges. Landis has been in prison charged with habitual burglary crimes and serving a life sentence. Prosecutors have waited for Landis to talk to another prisoner about the murders so he could be charged Landis seems to be to prison smart to talk to other inmates about the murders.

Sam Lincoln recieves additional prison time

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 7:44 am

According to published news reports, Sam Lincoln said that his addiction to meth  was at the root of the problems for the individuals who has been sentenced to a grand total of more than three hundred years behind bars. This is all due to his violent crimes which have unfortunately altered the life path of this twenty-seven year old who as a boy was named the Peach King two seperate times while riding rode at the head of the Palisade’s Peach Festival.  What an incredibly sad turnaround his life has really been. His most recent criminal arrest (boy does this guy ever keeps his attorney busy) was an attempted murder charge. The judge in that particular case sentenced him to ninety years for that crime alone. In a court statement he later said that he hopes that this case will be dismissed in the future, but denies any involvement in the crime in question.
The Deputy District Attorney Amy Fitch had asked the court give him the maximum penalty, which was 117 years commenting that this was really one of the worst crimes she had ever seen. Attorney Fitch also said that the accused is simply not fit to live in society.
Meanwhile the accused’ attorney Kathy Gourdy had requested a10 year minimum sentence. By the way if you live in either Miami, Florida or the greater dade County or Miami area and when you or a family member is charged with a criminal offense it takes the expertise of Miami criminal attorney to ensure the case is prepared to your advantage because it can mean your very freedom. David Garvin is certainly one of the top Miami criminal attorney out there, if not the very best. So now back to the story:
There was an earlier conviction where he was charged with attempted murder plus other very serious charges, along with a co-defendant, Lawrence Doty, who was found not guilty of the same incident.
According to Lincoln’s attorney in this March case a witness identified as Sharon Coelho testified and while she was the one who had planned the crime she was granted immunity in lieu of her testimony. It was testified that Doty had more blood on him and was more violent during the crime and he was found not guilty. He was convicted of this particular crime. There was also an incident where the criminal was sentenced to more than two hundred years for shooting at deputies which occurred in Arizona. He has also an incident in Grand Junction where in a high speed chase Lincoln reached speeds of one hundred mph while firing at deputies more than twenty times.
Lincoln’s attorney has said there are several appeals filed and that she believes that he is innocent of some crimes and an innocent man is going to jail. Gourdy also stated that there is some evidence that is very strong that could win new trials for about 3 of his cases.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy Sibert will be the prosecutor in this case against Hutchinson.

Federal authorities block Vermont’s strict pollution rules

Filed under: Legal News, World Headlines, National News, Vermont news — vtpeertopeer @ 9:11 pm

According to a staff report in the superb ‘Rutland Herald’ print and online newspaper,
Federal authorities have blocked some seventeen different states, which are led by Vermont and California - from establishing their own seperate automobile emissions standards in order slow global warming
and improve breathing air for everybody.
States have been instructed to rely instead on a brand new national law, rather than implement their own standards, the EPA head Stephen Johnson said in a statement. In fact, they went as far as to deny a needed waiver which would have granted states their own authority
for establishing standards in regards to how much in the way of harmful emmisions that different kinds of automobiles can potentially produce.

Governor James Douglas however, whose has placed the tougher standards in place in Vermont and, with the help of Attorney General William Sorrell’s office, has defended them, stated that they would mull over their various legal options.
He said that “The EPA ruling is out of touch with the reality of climate change and the innovative state policies that are emerging to address it. It is very unfortunate that this agency, (which is) charged with protecting the environment, opted not to act with the environmental stewardship American’s expect of it,”.
The emissions standards have been a main flagship and primary pillar of the governors work to lower the stae of Vermonts’ contribution to the global warming and emissions problem which affects everyone throughout the nation and world as whole.
Despite these setbacks, there is some reason for environmental optimism, fortunately. For example,
many technology industries are pushing hard towards making a profit out of solving the whole global warming phenomenon.
Firms as varied and diverse as eSolar, Solel, Nanosolar, Honda, GE, Vestas, Aracruz, and numerous more are commiting a lot of time and capital into renewable energy, transportation, and various products which are aligned with intelligent and sustainable development.
As a matter of fact, each leading industry is making significant investments in the solutions that the planet so desperately needs.
