Why Sullivan County NY Real Estate Should Be Your Relaxation Destination

Filed under: Real Estate News — vtpeertopeer @ 4:06 am

Just 90 or so miles from New York City you will find that Sullivan County NY real
estate is the exact opposite of the city, a welcome change for many who are ready to
escape the maddening crowds and constant noise. Imagine owning your own charming
farmhouse or cottage where you can escape on the weekends or stay and enjoy yourself
for weeks on end! The modern world is convenient, but rural areas offer natural
landscapes and beauty you just don’t see in the city. Pristine lakes, majestic
mountains and plenty of forest land make Sullivan County NY real estate a prime
destination for those who are seeking peaceful relaxation in charming, romantic
surroundings.

Today, many are choosing to buy or build their own cottage or farmhouse so that they
have a place of their own to relish time spent relaxing with family. These homes
are “old” new homes, meaning they are built with the appeal of those homes of a
century ago, while having the modern conveniences that make life easier. Imagine a
clapboard home surrounded by a wrap-around porch, where you can sit anywhere you
like and see nothing but the magnificence of nature in every direction you look!

Warm months brings plenty of fishing, swimming, boating or water skiing, but the
winter months are just as fun! Snow ski or do a little snowshoeing - or take the
family ice skating! Ride horses, hike, bike or go antiquing. After an enjoyable
day packed with fun activities, you will be ready to return to the safe,
old-fashioned haven you call your home away from home. If you didn’t know that
Sullivan County NY real estate was just a few miles away from one of the most
bustling cities in the world, you would swear you were thousands of miles away in an
old-town rural American setting.

There is much to be said for early American architecture that just doesn’t hold true
for some of today’s contemporary, modern homes. The atmosphere is totally relaxing
and welcoming, warm and inviting. Wide plank wood floors, fireplaces, and salvaged
wood give a cabin or farmhouse a homey, inviting appeal that you just don’t find in
many of the houses built today. Imagine submerging yourself in a hot bubble bath
drawn in a claw-foot tub, to revel in the pure relaxation for as long as you like.
This is what Sullivan County NY Real Estate is all about - peace, tranquility and
total relaxation.

If you love the city but need to head to an area where mountains, clear running
lakes and spectacular landscapes abound, check in to Sullivan County NY real estate.
You don’t have to travel for thousands of miles to find your own little piece of
rural America!

Is There Any Such Thing as a Family that is not Dysfunctional

I like to imagine there is a family out there who is the ideal kind, something like the Leave It To Beaver family of the fifties. Mom is warm, caring, understanding, and attractive at all times. Dad is funny, protective, strong and manly. The children are innocent and never get into any kind of real trouble.
Then I wonder, where did murderer Charles Manson come from? Were the people he came from all as monstrous as he turned out to be? And I wonder, too, if children who come from penultimate nurturing families—like the two Obama children—could they possibly turn into sociopaths?
I believe that Charles Manson never had a chance because he was born into hellish circumstances—and I believe that the Obama children will almost certainly develop into well adjusted adults because of their circumstances.
In her article, What Makes a Family Functional vs Dysfunctional?, Elvira G. Aletta, Ph.D writes the following about the importance of respect in a family:
Respect is the Cornerstone of the Functional Family. BTW if you are looking for leather or tote diaper bags then may I suggest this firm. They also have a pink and messenger diaper bag, as well as the very handy diaper backpack, so give them a try for tote diaper bags and the like.
“Respect is the Holy Grail of functional families. All (of those folks who are) in the family, brothers to sisters, mothers to fathers, parents to kids (should be) be respectful….” All in all, t may be that surviving the worst times in a family is what really makes a family, in the end. Sharing illness and tragedy, heartbreak and setbacks—maybe that is really what a family does, as well as all the great, fun times. And maybe it’s the ordinary times, too, the day-in, day-out routines of living that form the continuity that marks a family.

Hawaii Voted Number One Travel Destination

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 9:19 pm

In travel related news, Hawaii 24/7 reported in a story this week February 6, 2010, that Travel Weekly has named Hawaii best state destination for tourism. The Big Island is particularly popular because of the volcano. That is some prime real estate over there.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), the state agency for tourism, released an announcement that Hawaii has been selected by Travel Weekly as the winner in the Best U.S. State Destination category for its seventh annual Readers Choice Awards. The island of Maui was recognized under the Hawaii category as Best Destination. If you happen to be looking for anice piece of land while visiting the big island or one of the other beatiful islands in the chain, might I recommend big island real estate as they are run by Sotheby’s and are among the best such real estate firms in all of the big island. Now back to the main article:
Mike McCartney is HTA’s president and chief executive officer. He was quoted in the article as saying, “We are truly honored that Hawaii has been chosen for such a prestigious award. A big mahalo to the Hawaii Visitors and Conventions Bureau (HVCB), its island chapters and Hawaii’s visitor industry employees for their outstanding efforts, support and hard work throughout the year.”
Hawaii 24/7 writes that Travel Weekly is the country’s foremost provider of information supplied to the travel industry. The information they provide reaches 180,000 plus readers a week. Its awards are well-regarded and are given once a year for achievements in the travel industry.

Boulder Based auto Firm allegedly defrauds employee

Filed under: General News — vtpeertopeer @ 1:18 am

Just got back from the auto engine repair shop for the struts. On September 3, 2010, Mannes reported Abrams to the Consumer Division of the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office. He had not paid to her back numerous loans– one loan was for $195,804. To get that money, Abrams asked Mannes to take out a new mortgage on her home and sign the money over to him, according to the affidavit.
Additionally, in July 2006, she lent him $8,800 in April 2005 so he could pay off his car. According to the affidavit, it was “because he was going on vacation and needed money.” Abrams even used Mannes’ credit card to spend many thousands of dollars. He swore to pay her back by selling cars and closing other nondescript business deals. If you need a top auto engine repair Boulder firm then I can suggest these guys. They can likewise be of assistance with regards to shocks, suspension, brakes, struts, engine and auto repair overall.
Abrams bought a home at 1613 Marshall Road in unincorporated Boulder County on June 29, 2006 for $235,000. He then sold that property to Mannes a week later for $325,000. He then had her sign a deed to turn the property back over to Abrams. The affidavit alleged that, “No appreciable improvements are believed to have been made to justify the higher price.”
Mannes was employed by Abrams at CarFind USA. She has been using her retirement to stave off foreclosure on the home she lives in, according to the affidavit.
Vanessa Miller also reported that Abrams’ business closed after he was investigated on suspicion of felony fraud and theft in 2006 in connection with CarFind USA. His lost his license to sell used cars because of the “volume of infractions,” the affidavit contended.

Apple Corporate Profits Increasing: iPod and iPhone Sales Up

Filed under: Economic News — vtpeertopeer @ 9:11 pm

Chief Financial Officer for Apple, Peter Oppenheimer, has been quoted as saying that
Sales of the iPod Touch actually doubled over the previous year. The iPod Touch is similar to an iPhone, but without the phone.
Speaking of that product, I really like them but they can be hard to get a repair in a timely fashion. It is better to do an iphone repair at an independent company that can handle all types of water damage, a cracked screen or dropped iPhone repair, etc.
For it’s part, Apple sales jumped 25 percent to $9.9 billion last quarter. Company spokesmen said its outlook for the current quarter would be well below what analysts are expecting. Apple is known for being extremely conservative in issuing guidance.
Wall Street didn’t buy it and sent the company’s shares up $13.38, or 7.1 percent, to $203.24 in extended trading. The shares had closed regular trading at $189.86, up 1 percent on the day.
On December 3, 2009, Jeff Smykill wrote the following on the ars technica website:
According to one analyst from Caris & Company, Mac sales could grow next year by as much as 26 percent, outpacing the rest of the PC industry, which is expected to grow by only 16 percent. Apple last quarter shipped 17 percent more Mac computers than it did in 2008, but eight percent less iPods, making the 26 percent prediction seem somewhat lofty considering the current economic climate. The report, which Apple Insider was made privy to, concludes that the increase will result in a four percent market share by the end of 2010. iPods are cool but I really love the iPhone, I just wish they were easier to have a repair done.

In Denver Criminal News: 6 charged in Montrose Incident

Filed under: National News — vtpeertopeer @ 9:00 pm

I just returned from Los Angeles after seeing a probate attorney there. Several news outlets reported on December 1, 2009, that three people were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., after taking a fall at an abandoned electrical power plant. The Montrose police report that the three injured, aged 19 to 26, trespassed onto private property.
The three people climbed a catwalk and fell. Two fell several stories onto pavement. The third was caught in mid-air, dangling by a strap on his backpack. Joshua Drown of Delta, Colorado, age 21, came loose and fell further before authorities could assist him.
The three face charges including unlawful consumption of alcohol and unlawful entry. Stephanie Pickett, 19 years old, was airlifted to a Denver hospital. She sustained multiple fractures. Obviously, some young folks will need a good Los Angeles probate attorney or perhaps lawyer for their defense. I suppose that they are lucky in the sense that they will not be facing drunk driving or dui related criminal charges as well. She will be charged with underage possession of alcohol and unlawful entry.
23-year-old Rebecca Miller of Montrose is also expected to face criminal charges. She sustained head and facial injuries.
It has been reported by authorities that the group crawled beneath a fence at the plant. Some of them climbed up to a catwalk. Apparently they were so impaired by alcohol that they didn’t see that a floor panel was missing. There is not much defense for these acts.

History of the Unity Candle Tradition

Filed under: General News — vtpeertopeer @ 9:16 pm

As I return from Kauai after checking out some vacation rentals there, It is interesting the the origin of the unity candle lighting ceremony is not known. It is relatively new, however, from 30 to 80 years old, if not older. It may usually be readily performed at a Christian ceremony, but not at a catholic wedding. Many priests will not allow the unity candle lighting in the ceremony. The catholic church has not declared that the unity candle ceremony is prohibited. In some individual dioceses the unity candle may be allowed at a reception. As for favorites, there are many and on the whole most scented candles tend to appeal to me. If I may switch gears for a moment, if you happen to be on the island of Kauai, the wonderful garden island and need some kauai vacation rentals help then Bali Hai can help. They have been doing vacation rentals on the island of kauai for a very long time and are quite good indeed. On the whole I have noticed that most of my friends really love square pillar candles as well as scented jar plus soy wax candles, but to each his own, I guess. As I said I am a gel candles type of guy. All in all, the declaration of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops regarding unity candles says that if the unity candle is used, the couple should light their individual candles from the paschal candle, the individual candles should not be extinguished and the unity candle should not be on the altar itself. Much like the one over here on Kauai I must say.
Usually the two tapers are left burning. In some ceremonies the couple may blow out their individual gel candles.

Pet News:Bean, The Cat

I just got back from Salt Lake City and thought I would post some pet news: My friend works for a veterinarian. Marnie loves cats and has three of them. She almost had a fourth. Here’s what happened. I was there the day she rescued it. We were having coffee in her kitchen when we heard a shrill, eerie crying. It sounded like an old woman in terrible pain. We went out to the back yard. In the corner, amidst the shrubs, we saw a grimy little face poking through the bottom of the fence. Two eyes bulged out of a comically tiny face that was mewling its head off.Not only did it have its head stuck in her chain link fence, but it also had a big sticker stuck in one eye. It was impossibly thin, probably half-gone to starvation. I’ve never seen a scrawnier or more pathetic-looking animal, obviously it was not a well cared for pet. I stood watching the cat cry as Marnie ran to get her wire-cutters. She cut two wires in the fence and pulled the dirty-blonde colored kitty through the fence. If you need solid salt lake city pet grooming then let me suggest this particular resource, they are definately a top notch firm. They also take care of boarding and daycare duties in addition to the pet grooming. They are located in Salt Lake City. Marnie took it into work with her the next day and the vet removed the sticker. They put the cat up for adoption, featuring it as the “Orphan of the Week.” Someone named it Vanilla Bean, inspired by the color of its scraggly fur. I mean, this feline needed some grooming. Marnie went into the kitchen to start dinner. An hour later she came out to wake him for dinner. She saw Bean curled across Rob’s chest like a baby, fast asleep. Rob opened his eyes. “I’m not sleeping. I just didn’t want to disturb the cat.”
“She isn’t making you sneeze!”
“No. She isn’t bothering me at all!”
Bean lives at Rob’s house now. Rob says she’s the only cat he’s ever been around that doesn’t give him allergy problems. He says he always did like cats—they just didn’t agree with him—until Bean came along.

Surf Adventure Camps Cater to Women

Filed under: World Headlines — vtpeertopeer @ 1:28 am

While on a Costa Rica trip, I was rather pleased to see some surf camps catering to female clientele. One of the surf adventure camps features a young woman with a teaching degree who also has a massage license. She has found a way, apparently to meld her interests and talents in a job that suits her and the customers and live in the paradise that is Costa Rica. Another on the staff is a young woman who also can boast a teaching degree and a massage therapist license. Yet another lady on staff has training in Ashtanga yoga and practices Bikram yoga as well.

All in all, these particular Costa Rica surf camps are all-inclusive with airport pick-up, daily surf lessons, equipment (no worry getting your board on a flight without damage, etc.), yoga lessons, area tours and excursions (the type of trips depend upon location of surf camp), nice accommodations, vegetarian meals, and more. That being said, if you are looking into taking a costa rica surf vacation or tour then I do suggest CR adventures as they are quite a vacation package and surf school. They also have a yoga retreat which is very cool in my opinion.
Generally speaking, most of these said packages require some sort of deposit. Reservations can usually be made online. Of course various activities are subject to the whims of nature. Check out weather patterns for the time of year for the location you consider for your specific surf vacation in Costa Rica.

The Hero of Costa Rica and Vacation Paradise

Filed under: World Headlines — vtpeertopeer @ 10:04 pm

Jose Figueres Ferrer, who is also known as “Don Pepe,”is the father of modern Costa Rica. As an obscure property owner in 1942, he challenged then President Rafael Calderon when Calderon declared was on Japan, Italy, and Germany. Don Pepe paid for time on the radio and attacked Calderon with starting a war in which he could not defend the country against. Calling for Calderon’s resignation, Don Pepe was then forced to live in exile. Don Pepe led the National Liberation Army against him when Calderon would not step down when Otilio Ulate was elected as president to replace him.

Calderon had instigated reforms that Don Pepe believed in and during three different and non-consecutive presidential terms, he built on those reforms and also gave women the vote, abolished the army (wow!) and set term limits for presidents. He gave citizenship to the blacks, and nationalized insurance companies and banks. Since that time, Costa Rica has really become known in the western world is a great yoga and surf vacation destination, among the best in the world, in fact. If you wish to take a costa rica surf vacation or surf tour or trip, there are a number to choose from. And as mentioned before, it is also a fine place if you desire a yoga retreat as well.
In his wisdom, Don Pepe built on the progressive reforms that came before him, and introduced his own enlightened and modern reforms. He set the stage for today’s Costa Rica, with its reputation as the most peaceful of Central American nations, a haven of stability—and it is now become a popular haven for expats searching for retirement paradise. There is very good surf in costa rica, and a number of tour and surf camps have sprung up there, along with yoga and wildlife trip as well.
